When you create an account on ChorePub, we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored as a secure hash). As you use the service, we collect household data, chore schedules, completion records, photos you upload, and activity feed content that you create.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate the ChorePub service, including managing your household, generating chore schedules, tracking points and rewards, and displaying your activity in your household's feed. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Data Sharing
Your chore completions, kudos, and other activity are visible to members of your household. If you use the public sharing feature, specific feed items will be viewable at a public URL. We may share data with service providers who assist in operating the platform (hosting, email delivery) under strict confidentiality agreements.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Deactivated accounts may be permanently deleted after 90 days.
5. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and access controls to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Cookies and Sessions
We use session cookies (JWT-based) to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
7. Children's Privacy
ChorePub is designed for household use and may be used by children under parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without consent, please contact us.
